Christopher & David
Sunday 2nd December 2023 – The Great House Hotel, Laleston, Bridgend.
One late summer morning, we walked into the local Costa. The rattle of teaspoons and the smell of fresh coffee hung in the air. Steam rose from our mugs as we met Christopher and David to discuss their December wedding. They were excited, looking forward to their big day like any couple.
After that initial summer morning in the café, the year moved on to December. After our café meeting, December finally arrived, bringing its typical chill and rain. I attended alone as Tracy had to work. At the Great House Hotel, I soon found Christopher; he was in the ceremony room. His trousers were so colourful they suggested an explosion in a paint factory, but they suited him perfectly.
Soon, David joined us with his mother, and as more guests arrived, preparations for the ceremony began. Having seen Chris’s earlier outfit, I was curious about what both would wear for the ceremony. Chris chose a light grey suit, blue shirt, and yellow bow tie. David wore a dark suit, a yellow shirt, and a light blue bow tie. Their shoes were unique: David wore bright yellow Sesame Street pumps, and Chris had yellow trainers with Simpsons characters. Everything looked great together.
The ceremony itself was quiet and intimate, attended by close friends and family while they exchanged vows. Suddenly, they were Mr and Mr Pinkney-Price. Applause and love filled the room. After photos outside, we returned indoors for the reception and speeches, leading into the evening celebrations.
I left thinking it was one of the best weddings I had ever been to.
